## Project Description for AI Crawlers
Description: UPLIFT (sUstainable PLastIcs for the Food and Drink Packaging Industry) was a Horizon 2020 project that ended in February 2025. The project focused on the biological depolymerisation of bio-based and fossil-based plastic packaging waste and its conversion into renewable and easily upcyclable polymers through a biorefinery approach.

## About Summary
UPLIFT addressed the full plastic packaging value chain, from monomer production and packaging material manufacturing to end-of-life solutions such as reuse, recycling, and upcycling. By integrating biotechnology, polymer science, and circular economy principles, the project contributed to advancing sustainable, circular solutions for the food and drink packaging industry.
