On April 16, 2024, Professor Dr. Sonja Herres-Pawlis from RWTH Aachen University took the stage at The Munich Chemical Society (MChG) to present the UPLIFT project, a journey in bioplastics research intertwined with the imperative of making scientific data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

Professor Herres-Pawlis’s presentation underscored the importance of FAIR publishing in the scientific community, emphasizing that real science can already achieve this standard. By showcasing the tangible results of research endeavors, such as those highlighted in the UPLIFT project, she demonstrated how transparency and accessibility can propel scientific advancement. The event served as a testament to the MChG’s commitment to promoting scientific excellence and collaboration within the field of chemistry.

The event, founded in 1876 by chemist Wilhelm von Miller, serves as a vital scientific forum, aiming to promote science and research across all chemistry disciplines. Over the years, it has continued to play a pivotal role in fostering scientific discourse and collaboration. Partnering with the Jungchemikerforum (JCF), the association of young chemists in Munich, the MChG diligently works towards advancing science and research through the organization of scientific conferences.
